The Order of Saint Luke the Physician in New Zealand is an organisation comprising members of Christian churches across denominations dedicated to the Christian healing ministry. It provides resources for the teaching and encouragement of members in the practice of healing, both by intercessory prayer, prayer with the laying on of hands and anointing with blessed oil. The objective of its founders was to encourage congregations of the churches to practice regularly, the ministry of healing in their services of worship and to make the ministry of healing a regular part of the Order of St. Luke members' Christian commitment by gathering together in local chapters (or groups) for the purpose of fellowship, study and prayer for wholeness. We consider that these objectives have now largely been met and that we are now called to minister in the wider community.
